If you feel like everything in America is going in the wrong direction, you’re in good company. But that doesn’t mean you’re right.
Three-quarters of Americans currently believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. If you spend any time at all on social media, it’s not hard to find people tweeting and meme-ing about how the U.S. is going down the tubes. It can feel like we’re constantly being berated for being racists, elitists if we’re lucky enough to own a home, phobic if we dare question the lifestyles of teenagers … and so on.
And while there are real areas where things are worrisome – rising crime, inflation, you name it – the fundamentals of life are actually improving around the world.
In fact, I highly recommend the website Human Progress when you find yourself getting down. They pay attention to things that the rest of the media ignores in its quest for clicks and ratings.
There’s actually a nifty little feature where you can enter the year of your birth, and see how America, or other countries, have improved over your lifetime.
For starters, everything we’d like to go up is up and everything we’d like to go down is down. But the amount of progress is pretty staggering. Child mortality is down more than 75% since I was born.
Income since I was born has increased 158% in constant dollars, and the food supply and average years of school for Americans show serious gains. Estimates of fairness and democracy in our society have risen as well.
That progress isn't only in the United States, but worldwide. In a video I produced, I showed that in detail, especially in some of the basic fundamentals like child mortality rate, education, and poverty. By any measurable standard, the world's looking up.
Again, it’s easy to concentrate on the bad when that’s all we hear. The good news is that the bad news is overblown.

Good piece overall but see these issues:
Crime
Quality of Life IE Blue cities
Terrorism
DC corruption
Inflation
National debt owed
pending nuclear war etc
I like optimism but opiate deaths are also up and our border remains open allowing fentanyl to continue to pour in as well as terrorists. Our country was energy independent now we must depend on countries that want our demise. Our medical technology has improved our mortality. Let us pray and work towards keeping our country free for innovation and free thinkers to continue to take place.
