In case you missed it …
Top NYT writers are defending the paper’s coverage of trans issues after other NYT writers and the NewsGuild union accused the paper of aligning with “hate groups” and creating a hostile work environment.
A children’s book series about “inspiring women” will feature Dr. Rachel Levine, the transgender assistant secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services.
Don Lemon is returning to the air - he was missing for a few days after saying on CNN that presidential candidate Nikki Haley was past her prime. Lemon has reportedly agreed to undergo “formal training” and apologized to CNN staff.
On March 16, I’ll attend the parole hearing of the man who murdered my sister and others. You can help keep him in prison by signing our petition, or writing an email to the board. I wrote a personal account here.

Dear Friends—
A dark money group has been working to discredit Elon Musk, Twitter, and any semblance of free speech you might find there.
Billionaire Pierre Omidyar founded eBay and provided money for the Intercept and ProPublica. He’s now giving millions to groups that targeted Elon Musk. The Washington Free Beacon reports those groups
“criticiz[ed] him in letters and op-eds as "uniquely ill-suited for the job of running a social media platform" and warning that he would turn Twitter into a "free-for-all of hate and harassment."
The Free Beacon reports that groups funded by Omidyar organized campaigns to pressure companies to boycott Twitter as well.
One of the companies, Accountable Tech, calls itself a "small nonprofit taking on Big Tech companies." According to the Free Beacon, it’s also “a registered trade name of the North Fund, a $66 million nonprofit group that uses aliases to push an array of left-wing causes from a shell office in Washington, D.C.”
Ironically, Omidyar and Musk have a history together - his company, eBay, bought PayPal for $1.3 billion and he’s part of the reason Musk has so much money now. But while Elon seems to be veering ever more right, Omidyar is dedicating his time and money to left-wing causes now.
Including, it seems, squashing free speech from yet another angle.

Ken LaCorte is my first read each day as I drink my morning coffee. I like and enjoy his work. This morning, I was surprised to find his synopsis of the NYT issue led me in the opposite direction of what was contained in the linked article. Glad I read the linked article and kudos to the NYT writers who feel it is their duty as members of the press to take a more objective look at transgender impacts.
How many billionaires want to quash free speech?
Aside those in Big Tech
