In case you missed it …
Podcasts: the next censorship frontier. Researchers at the Brookings Institution used AI to flag “misinformation” in podcasts and called for tech companies and regulators to “meet this challenge.”
After Don Lemon said Nikki Haley was past her prime, he was off TV for a few days. CNN execs allowed him back on the air and said he’d undergo “formal training.” Now, National Review asks the great question - what formal training is going to change Don Lemon?
A new book reports that journalists at political news site Politico were warned by trainers that the word 'mother' could be offensive. A reporter there was also told to have colleagues act as “sensitivity readers” after using the term “biological women.” That’s how you get headlines like …
Dear Friends –
A trans teacher with fake giganto breasts has finally been put on leave from school after he was discovered around town sans fake boobs looking like a man.
In so many ways, this story represents so many others, where common sense often gets brushed aside by the media class. Fortunately, the truth can resilient.
Here’s the now-familiar story arc that shows the media and government elites being well-educated fools.
Step 1: The suspension of common sense in favor of an elite trend.
In the case, the story started when the teacher decided, for whatever reason, to game the system. He outfitted himself with a wig, women’s clothing, and cartoonishly sized breasts with nipples the size of hard-boiled eggs.
Kayla Lemieux insisted the breasts were real and were a result of a condition called 'gigantomastia.' He also said he was intersex, rather than transgender.
Afraid to look hateful, or something, the school supported this nonsense wholeheartedly. Even when the teacher’s safety operating a table saw was called into question, the school stood firm.
Step 2: Censor and shame anyone who asks questions.
Students, being able to more freely mock a naked emporer (or, in this case, bizarrely outfitted) than adults, were told they’d be suspended if they took pictures or video of her. When parents objected to the teacher and asked for a dress code, the school board ignored them, issuing a “dress code” with no actual rules on how to dress.
Step 2 often also comes with media accusations against those people pointing out that the emperor has no clothes. For example, “the lab leak theory is racist!” and “the Hunter Biden/laptop story is a conspiracy theory!”
Step 3: Wait for the truth.
Reality caught up with Kayla Lemieux when the New York Post caught him leaving the costume at home, and “she” was outed as a man.
Lemieux is currently on leave, but is still being paid.
We’re seeing this play out repeatedly. Here’s another example:
1. Racist cops are what’s hurting the black community. Look at George Floyd! 2. Let’s fire cops, as well as any “racist” who says cops aren’t the problem. 3. We’re forced to watch the murder rate spike, especially in the black community.
The same nonsense has played out with arguments in support of allowing men to compete in girls’ sports, all sorts of Covid information (from its origin to mask mandates to natural immunity), the New York Post/Hunter Biden censorship story, and many more.
We usually find ourselves getting to the real story, but sometimes it takes years to do so.
More often than not, truth has a way of surviving.
