Hunter's Sweetheart Deal in Limbo
Hunter Biden's plea deal took a dramatic turn, but that's not what I'm concerned with.
1. Like father, like son?
Hunter Biden's plea deal fell spectacularly apart on Wednesday as the judge refused to approve the agreement. The proposed deal involved pleading guilty to misdemeanor tax offenses and entering a diversion program for a felony federal weapons charge. But the judge questioned the constitutionality of the agreement and the immunity Hunter was supposed to get. The future of the deal is uncertain.
As I’ve said before, I care relatively less about what the president’s delinquent son is doing than what the leader of the free world is doing. But it appears that President Biden’s involved in some not-great stuff as well.
According to a document Senator Grassley’s office recently released, an FBI source says then-Vice President Joe Biden pressured the founder of Burisma to put Hunter on the board … and to give father and son $5 million each to use Joe Biden’s political influence to get a Ukrainian prosecutor investigating the company fired. You can read the whistleblower document here.
Hunter Biden’s former best friend is also expected to testify to the House Oversight Committee that Hunter also put then-VP Joe Biden on the phone with business associates at least 2 dozen times. Hunter would call his father and introduce him to various foreign business partners or possible investors.
2. Kamala’s lies
In a recent speech, Vice President Kamala Harris alleged that the state of Florida plans to teach students that slaves benefitted from slavery.
That’s not what the curriculum teaches, of course. There is one line in a yearlong curriculum that notes that slaves did acquire some special skills. As Charles Cooke explains in this excellent article, this wasn’t thanks to slavery, but in spite of it. The purpose of the lesson was to keep students from seeing slaves just as victims but as whole people.
3. An awful detransitioning story
In a terribly sad story, Fox News interviewed a detransitioned young man who previously identified as a trans woman. He’s now warning others about the dangers of switching genders. He suffers from stunted growth and chronic pain after undergoing treatment including castration. He said in the interview that exposure to gender ideology on platforms like YouTube contributed to his decision to transition.
"I couldn't ignore that I mutilated myself pretty much with the permission of a psychiatrist.”
I’m curious and very worried to see if we’ll see more of these kinds of sentiments as the first generation of children to be medically experimented on like this comes of age.
The sub-heading on the Telegraph story is as revealing as it is jarring. When the inmates on the prison paper are doing the work that free journos won't, despite countless warnings that this would happen, you have to wonder just what it is that the media beyond serve as the PR/activist wing of favored people, parties, and causes.
