Warren Buffet became the fifth-richest person in the world not by inventing a new super-something, but through long-term investing in companies.
Here’s part of his strategy: “In its brief 232 years of existence ... there has been no incubator for unleashing human potential like America. Despite some severe interruptions, our country’s economic progress has been breathtaking. Our unwavering conclusion: Never bet against America.”
America is the birthplace of pioneering ideas and groundbreaking technologies. It’s no accident that innovations like the assembly line, the airplane, nuclear power, personal computers, the internet and so much more all originated from a country with just over 4% of the world’s population. We also account for over 25% of the world’s economy.
Buy why? It’s not that we’re all somehow magically gifted people. It’s because of our values.
America’s story isn’t just about technology and economic prowess. It’s about values — freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. These aren’t just words; they're the foundation of American society.
They're what attract people from all corners of the globe, seeking a place where they can speak, think, and innovate freely. It’s unique enough that one of our current debates is how to deal with the millions of people who want to move here.
We’re the lucky ones. We either immigrated or were born into a country that doesn’t just dream of a better future; it builds it. America’s history is filled with stories of individuals and communities who defied the odds to create something remarkable.
For at least a day or two, shut down the news feeds reminding us of our problems and challenges. Let’s celebrate America not just for its past achievements but for its future potential.
Let’s remember that this country, with its mix of cultures, ideas, and aspirations, remains a unique experiment in human history, a bold endeavor that continues to inspire.
Our American future still looks bright, and the best is yet to come. Don’t bet against it.
