Representatives attack "Twitter Files" reporters
Evidently, these "so-called" reporters going to get people harmed
UPDATE:
On March 16, I’ll attend the parole hearing of the man who murdered my sister and others. You can help keep him in prison by signing our petition, or writing an email to the board. I wrote a personal account here.
Our petition is over 3,000 signatures … thanks! Also, I’m scheduled to be on Fox News @ Night with Trace Gallagher tomorrow (9:00 pm Pacific, Midnight Eastern) to discuss the case.
Dear Friends –
A lot going on today! Let’s get started …
1.) Congress vs. reporters who expose censorship collusion
Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger, two of the reporters responsible for writing about the Twitter Files, testified before a House Judiciary Committee Thursday. You can read Taibbi’s opening statement here, and Shellenberger’s here, decrying the “censorship-industrial complex” and talking about how anti-disinformation and free speech can’t co-exist.
Congressional Democrat attacked hard, trying to diminish the reporters’ credibility, and trying hard to get them to exposes sources.
Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D, Virgin Islands), called Taibbi a “so-called reporter,” despite his 30-year career that included a long stint at The Rolling Stone. She also accused the men of endangering the lives of Twitter employees by exposing company corruption and collusion with the government to censor people.
2.) The Drudge Report is a pale shadow of its once-awesome self
It’s hard to overstate how important the Drudge Report used to be to the news scene. It used to be the best alternative news portal on the web. The fact that owner Matt Drudge rarely appeared in public, and was hard to track down, only added to its mystique … and probably helped the anti-establishment vibe.
These days, it’s basically a summary of the (formerly) mainstream media’s narrative. Here’s the leading story Thursday:
I already went over why everything about this headline is wrong.
3.) DeSantis gets censored, proving his point
Florida governor Ron DeSantis was calling out the media for misreporting … correctly dubbing their reporting a “book ban hoax.” He held a press conference to explain that no, he’s not indiscriminately burning books. He’s removing sexually explicit books from K-12 school libraries. During the press conference, he shared some of the material in the books, forcing local media to cut away from the conference because the content was too sexually explicit.
So, just so I’m clear: things that were in children’s libraries were too explicit to be aired on television? Got it.
4.) We remember, Chris Cuomo
Cuomo is making the rounds, trashing Fox News for misrepresenting the violence on January 6.
This is the same guy who, while BLM rioters were burning buildings and destroying businesses in multiple cities, actually compared them to Americans landing at Normandy.
5.) There’s a new bank that won’t censor you.
Old Glory Bank.
How weird is it that some banks are now in the social censorship game?
A few conservatives, including Ben Carson and Larry Elder, got together to buy a bank and rebrand it Old Glory Ban, promising to avoid that kind of nonsense.
I reserved a spot for when they are officially open, apparently later this month. Because I’m conservative with my money, I’ll want to check out their rates and fees first, and I’ll keep you updated as I learn more.
This is the “parallel economy” I’ve written about before, and we should support it when we can.
6.) We’re retiring the phrase “lab leak theory.”
One of our readers correctly pointed out that the Wuhan lab leak is now well beyond a theory.
"There is no scientific mystery here, only a state secret. China knows what happened, or at least has access to all the information available to understand what happened.”
Thanks, Mike.
7.) Anthony Fauci hid the truth about COVID
Testimony at House hearings is showing that Dr. Fauci did everything he could to cover up the possibility that COVID escaped from a lab. Because he gave U.S. money to fund gain-of-function research, Dr. Fauci had a definite interest in making sure there was no suspicion that the research could have caused – intentionally or not – COVID.
He commissioned a scientific paper to debunk the idea of a lab leak, then shared the paper as proof the idea was unfounded. He colluded with social media companies to suppress posts that talked about a lab leak possibility. In fact, Fox News commentator Gregg Jarrett argues Fauci should be criminally investigated.
Meanwhile, you can still buy a variety of Fauci fangear on Amazon, if you’re so inclined.
I agree with your appraisal of Drudge. I noticed the site going south about three years ago and haven't been back since. As for the idiotic LA Times story about white drivers polluting black and brown neighborhoods, any insightful reader will immediately recognize it as just one more tired liberal ploy to sow division.
Those who attack Twitter Files were IN ON Censorship day 1
Thanks to Indie reporters Bravo
