Dear Friends —
The American Girl doll is under fire for publishing a book – aimed at girls as young as three – which advises them how to change their gender.
American Girl got its start making rather pricey dolls whose characters were from different time periods. They taught girls about American history, and featured spunky characters.
The brand branched out to accessories, books, and even a few movies. However, one recent book, “A Smart Girl's Guide: Body Image,” is marketed to girls aged 3-12 years old. It includes passages like:
If you haven't gone through puberty yet, the doctor might offer medicine to delay your body's changes, giving you more time to think about your gender identity.
It also includes illustrations like this:
The book tells kids that being transgender is not “an illness or something to be ashamed of,” and tells kids, “You can appreciate your body for everything it allows you to experience and still want to change certain things about it.”
It also informs girls,
“if you don’t have an adult you trust, there are organizations across the country that can help you. Turn to the resources on page 95 for more information.”
Some parents are slamming the book, saying it features “deceptive and dangerous” content, and isn’t what they were expecting from the title. One mom said it was any is “stripping away all innocence” from the girls who read it.
So far, American Girl has yet to comment.

Also like the reference to the Tom Petty song.
The late Andrew Breitbart was fond of saying that politics is downstream of culture and you illustrate this perfectly today in your daily write-up today.
