The murder trial people didn't see
A news story that seems tailor-made for prime viewing was barely mentioned
In case you missed it …
Elon Musk closes Twitter deal.
He immediately fired top executives, including the company’s CEO, CFO and top lawyer who headed “public policy and safety” efforts.
Musk outlined his motivation for the purchase, warning about the formation of online echo chambers.
Liberal media whining started immediately.
Dear Friends,
Earlier this week, Darrell Brooks was found guilty of six counts of intentional homicide after he ran over and killed six people at a Waukesha Christmas parade.
Ignored by the media
As media critic Steve Krakauer notes, Brooks was mentioned twice on CNN and once on MSNBC during the four-week trial. Odd, because as trials go, this one was served up on a silver platter. There were cameras in the courtroom, so news shows had plenty of video to use.
Brooks represented himself. He took off his clothes, pretended to be someone else, and built a fort out of boxes. A victim’s family member shouted at him during the sentencing. There were plenty of moments to discuss. And yet the trial was mostly ignored by the MSM.
We’ve been here before
This is reminiscent of the coverage (or lack thereof) immediately after the murders. Once reporters discovered who Brooks was, he largely disappeared from coverage. CNN bent over backward, and took ridiculous liberties with grammar, to avoid blaming a black man for the attack.
Brooks was a career criminal with plenty of violent offenses before this attack. In fact, he was only out on the road because Milwaukee County's district attorney recommended “inappropriately low” bail after he was charged with running his girlfriend over with a car.
Apparently, all of those details added up to the conclusion by the media that the case wasn’t worth covering. Brooks murdered six people and injured dozens more, but he didn’t fit the narrative and so he was ignored.
It’s a disservice to victims’ families … and it’s a disservice to anyone trying to get an accurate picture of what happened that day.
Maybe with Elon running Twitter such murder trials can be made public
Well, I saw it, but then I #CutTheCord well over a decade ago because of all the drivel coming out of corporate media, so I tend to be better informed and less brainwashed than the brain dead zombies who watch tv for hours every day. Thanks for this.
