Trump to announce
Trump: "Perhaps the most important speech given in the history of the United States"
In Case You Missed It …
No more free lunch: Elon Musk mocked the claim that he’s starving Twitter employees after he ended the company’s free lunch policy.
Some college kids got it right: A college postponed their painting and writing event for people who were “tired of cis white men” after there was student backlash.
Credit where due: The New York Times did a piece that shows (surprise, surprise) that puberty blockers which were handed out to kids with almost no studies done on their effects have … all sorts of unfortunate effects.
Dear Friends,
Everything I’m seeing indicates that Donald Trump will announce his run for the 2024 presidency today.
If he doesn’t, the rest of this piece is largely irrelevant. If he does, here are a few questions and things to expect …
Prediction: It will be Trump against the establishment
We sent Trump to Washington in 2016 because he positioned himself as an outsider and promised to drain the swamp. His best positioning, and best quality, is when he fights against an establishment on behalf of average Americans.
We saw that on the day he announced for 2016, taking on illegal immigration. Democrats silently approve of future-Democrat voters sneaking into the country, and Republican leaders were afraid to look racist. Trump singlehandedly brought the issue into the campaign.
Prediction: He’ll spin the 2022 midterms not as a loss
To the extent that Republicans fell flat, he’ll blame Mitch McConnell and others dismissed as RINOs. He’s criticized his endorsed candidates who went “soft” by mellowing their public support for Trump, especially those who wouldn’t stick to the “2020 was stolen line”, and he’ll likely return to that theme.
Prediction: He’ll talk about “stolen” elections 0f 2022
Trump repeatedly talks about his re-election being stolen from him. It fires up the troops, yet to some extent it cuts across his “winner” brand. I expect him to come out full-throated that the 2022 races weren’t about candidates (or him) who fell short, but election malfeasance.
The bigger question is whether he’ll mention the 2020 election being stolen. I think reminding Americans of 2020 actually hurts his brand, but he does seem to keep it as a central theme.
Biggest Question: Does he attack DeSantis directly?
This is an interesting one, since his immediate pre- and post-election attack on the Florida governor fell flat among Republicans. If Trump doesn’t mention Gov. DeSantis, or mentions him favorably, today, it’s an indication of a New Trump who’s listening to the advice of those closest to him. If he launches an attack, we’ll know his anti-establishment vibe extends even to ignoring his allies. Sometimes, he can’t help himself.
So. Those are my predictions for Trump. As for the media, I think they’ll cover every Trump utterance from now til the next Election Day (although they never really stopped … and I don’t know that they will then).
How about you? Thoughts?

If President Trump is going to start the name calling I will not be a fan. I voted for him twice and our country would be much better off if he was in the white House now. I live in Florida and I like Ron DeSantis but I hope he remains our governor this term. The ticket should be Trump/Hailey
I supported Trump during his campaign and presidency to the extent it caused strife with some family and friends. I continue to support his direction on major issues such as secure borders, energy independence, crime prevention, etc. However, I am tired of the name calling, blaming of others, and non-stop histrionics. His policies are, for me, directionally correct. His seemingly constant rants and outbursts are not. I want to see the leadership in moving his policies forward that warrants the title of President. I hope he can demonstrate that type of leadership this time around.
