Honestly, I understand where Haley is coming from. Anonymity online encourages all sorts of bad behavior. I understand the reasons for allowing people a nom de plume, and I don't quite understand why this rises to the level of a campaign issue for someone running for president. It's a little silly if you ask me. But then again, I have read about all of the stresses people campaigning for the nation's highest office are under. Taking a stand on something goofy like this is par for the course, even for a serious candidate.

Personally, I put my real name on things I write. Hopefully I don't say something that gets me cancelled. I might anyway; I'm a middle aged white guy, part of the group everyone agrees is responsible for everything that goes wrong. Still, I want to stand behind my words.

Hopefully, Nikki Haley has put a nail in her campaign with the comments about using your legal name on-line. Of course, there are other reasons she shouldn’t be considered a serious contender to serve as President. We need someone who has the ability and willingness to stand up for the masses and oppose the actions of those who seek to destroy America. That surely isn’t Nikki!

I can think of another reason for Americans to care about October 7. The shear barbarism of the attacks on Israeli citizens. Regardless of what you think about Israel and the treatment of Palestinians in areas controlled by Israel, what occurred on October 7 was beyond the Pale. It wasn’t just Israelis, guest workers from South Asia were summarily executed, some in gruesome fashion. The only image that I can recall that impacted me as much was the ISIS execution of a (fellow Muslim) Jordanian pilot who was captured by them and then burned to death in a cage.

As for Nikki Haley’s comments. It just is another illustration of a politician saying something that may sound good in their mind, but they REALLY have not thought it through. AND, once the words were unleashed, they had to be “walked back”, since “yes, she REALLY had not thought that comment through to it’s logical conclusion”. The joys of public life.

I grew up in that very same area Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, and Agoura Hills. I graduated Agoura High School way back when … in the early 1980s. Here’s a little bit of insight about the area …

This area is split by the Ventura County/Los Angeles County line. The spot where the victim suffered an attack and subsequent death is located on Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Ventura County.

Residents in nearby L.A. County’s Agoura Hills frequently work, travel and shop in Westlake and Thousand Oaks, and vice versa. Westlake itself is also split by the County Line as well, with separate local jurisdictions and school districts. My Agoura High School frequently competed against nearby Westlake High School in CIF sports.

For reference, you can see the dotted county line on this map …

If this rally and counter-protest had occurred just a mile or so south on Thousand Oaks Blvd., it would have been in Los Angeles County, the jurisdiction of the notorious social justice warrior District Attorney, George Gascón. I think anybody could take it to the bank that Gascón would have given the (alleged) killer the kid gloves treatment; no bail, and weak charges, if any.

For the sake of justice, at least the Ventura County District Attorney doesn’t drink from the same leftist fever swamp as George Gascón. The defendant is being held on a substantial bail amount and is facing manslaughter charges, which sounds appropriate. In the meantime the investigation continues, leaving the possibility of additional/enhanced charges against the defendant.

R.I.P. Paul Kessler … Godspeed to the Kessler Family.
