All of those quotes about DeSantis are attributed to commentators or opinion hosts, not straight news reporters, so I wouldn't consider them evidence of media bias. After all, you could find pro-DeSantis quotes from right-leaning opinionators, and that wouldn't mean the media at large is biased in FAVOR of DeSantis.

Every potential presidential candidate deserves close media scrutiny -- especially those like Trump and DeSantis who demonstrate authoritarian leanings that are antithetical to America's established political norms.

If you believe it's fine for someone to say that RDS "really has tried to turn himself into a local Mussolini" with "brutal tactics" isn't any more "media scrutiny" than Lou Dobbs saying he believed the election was stolen is "electoral scrutiny."

It's not the anchor/reporter division that's the problem, it's the charges that fly in the face of any objective reality.

Except Beschloss' opinion, debatable as it was, was based on facts (DeSantis cracking down on classroom speech and punishing a business that criticized his policy) while Dobbs' opinion was blissfully untethered from reality. That said, I think Beschloss would have been on firmer ground to say that DeSantis displays authoritarian tendencies that have historically been precursors to outright fascism, with Mussolini's regime being a good example.

On a different note, good luck at tomorrow's parole hearing. You have a lot of people behind you.

Electoral stealing charges were based on facts too.

Dobbs would point to Sidney Powell's lawsuit, which was chock full of allegations and specific charges, some from supposed electoral and statistical experts. Giuliani featured some of them in his "hearings" that he conducted. There were multiple instances of poll workers making very specific charges.

I don't believe any of them held up, just as I don't think too many people, if they knew the facts, would believe saying "don't teach about sexuality to 4th graders" is a precursor to il Duce.

And thanks ... I'm cautiously optimistic about tomorrow. Never a fun time, but something we have to do.
