There are so many stories in the news which demonstrate how government actors have consistently lied to the American people on a host of issues. The one thing I would say about the Jan 6 stroll through the Capital is it’s long past time to release the political prisoners being held awaiting trial. Those people deserve to be released until their trial dates.
As mention the range of issues involving bad actors in the government have gone on far too long. If they broke the law, charge them. If they misled the American people and abused their positions, fire them. If they helped politicize government agencies, charge them with any crimes against the American people and punish them accordingly.
The endless investigations are further demonstrating the continuing political theatre in Washington where bad actors can do whatever they want without consequence. It’s time it all stops.
My husband and I watched the live feeds on Instagram on Jan 6th. The fact that any of these people are still sitting in jail is insane. Some of these people broke the law, & should be tried and if found guilty, sentenced. Just because I 100% agree with them doesn't mean that there aren't consequences for their actions. But they have the right to a speedy trial... and the rest of us need to reread the Declaration of Independence again; specifically the part about what should happen if the government wrongs us and further - allows us no recourse for redress of those wrongs..
It has been so interesting watching Russell Brand evolve through this whole COVID BS. He did what everyone should have done which was "whoops I got in wrong in the beginning, I'm sorry" and change course when evidence came out. He's got guts and he seems more American than most Americans I know. and if you scroll down to the Morning Joe segment. He runs train on those idiots.
Believe the reason not much of story on Fox. . . Paul Ryan, et al after Tucker. Fox didn’t ask for or even want tapes. Ryan has already set stage for Tucker’s demise. Do not doubt it. Ryan is a hard left liberal. He married into hard core Democrat family who rose to a little bit of fame in Little Dixie. Think David Boren’s ex-wife’s family. Ryan had perfect opportunity to give Trump House in 2018 by forcing early resignations of reps whose states were run by Republican governors. He is a #1 double-crosser. IMO, nothing conservatives have done can possibly compare with the crimes of the this administration and the Clintons. Slick Willie defiled the Oval Office with a cigar and his sexual promiscuity. HRC defiled the Office of Secretary of State, think Ambassador Christopher Stevens and others who gave their lives, as one example.
Turns out they ran it later today. I think the more likely answer is that the NY Post and Daily Mail had writers, or more writers, working the overnight shift.
I have a photo of my grandfather and a buddy laughing and holding up their hands while a monkey in a fez points a (presumably unloaded) pistol at them in an outdoor marketplace somewhere in Northern Africa, where my grandfather was serving as an MP in WWII. There's another photo of him outside a brothel in liberated France after he'd rousted a few hungover GIs.
By Tucker's logic, those photos are proof that, no matter what you've been told, WWII was a fun, mostly peaceful sightseeing expedition.
Tucker privately trashed Trump as a "demonic force" and "the undisputed world champion" at "destroying things" while he publicly defended Trump and smeared his critics on TV. Tucker tried to get a reporter fired for telling the truth about the 2020 election. His idea of respecting his audience is lying to them to reinforce what they already falsely believe.
The footage of horrific January 6 violence is all over the Internet for anyone to see. Tucker has zero credibility. If you believe his latest spin (I can assure you HE doesn't), you're letting yourself be played for a sucker.
Tucker giving another side of the very one-sided view that we have is vital. Just seeing the footage of the goofy Viking guy being basically escorted into the Senate chamber is info that we deserved. I'd prefer to see it released publicly, but two ideologically opposed outlets (Tucker vs. 1/6 Commission) is better for you and me than just one side.
"Jan. 6 was a mostly peaceful sightseeing outing" is not a valid take that deserves to be evaluated alongside "Jan. 6 was a violent insurrection."
The balanced approach is appropriate when two sides have a difference of opinion based on a set of commonly accepted facts, like "tax cuts are good/bad for the economy." But when one side says the world is round and the other side says it's flat, the flat-earthers don't deserve to be heard out.
Bret Baier hasn't come out of the Dominion scandal smelling like a rose, but he and Chad Pergram did a good job today refuting Tucker's lies and quoting Sicknick's family and mainstream Republicans like McConnell who've called out Tucker's appalling rhetoric.
