In the SOTU a few days ago, Biden, after talking about Laken Riley, said that she’d been murdered by an illegal, but ‘how many people are killed by legal citizens?’ (At least, that’s what I think he said.). But the important point that they’re completely ignoring, intentionally, is that if our immigration laws were being enforced, these people wouldn’t even be here to murder at all. The rate of murder among citizens, or in comparison to legal citizens, is irrelevant.
That's a fair point, in that with 0 illegal aliens, there'd be 0 murders by illegal aliens.
But with 0 dogs, we'd also have 0 dog maulings. With 0 planes, we'd have 0 fatal crashes.
I know some will hoot and holler here at this concept, but illegal aliens also bring our society benefits, especially in the long run. Yes, it's wrong that their first interaction with our country is to flout or laws, and many, most?, cost our society in education and healthcare costs.
Yet there's an overarching question of, "are people beneficial to America?" and I think the answer is overwhelmingly yes. Living in California, I've likely had a lot of illegal aliens work for me. Overall, I'd say they're a lot better than a lot of home-grown Americans. They're generally hard workers, have strong family values, and I suspect that they appreciate what America has to offer more than a typical college graduate. Even better, their kids will be grow up in that and be strong patriots as well.
I have no problem with legal immigration, and I think we need immigration, but we also need to know who we’re letting into the country, and know that they can add to our country and not just take away.
