Musk drew fire for labeling NPR "US state-affiliated media." He only changed it to "Government Funded Media" after admitting the original label "might not be accurate" under Twitter's own definition. Musk unfairly and misleadingly delegitimized one of the country's most reliable media sources by putting it in the same category as propaganda outlets like RT that lack editorial independence. He's not the hero here.
Why is NPR delegitimized because they are labeled as "Government supported"? Even you are implying that a media outlet that has financial connections to a party that has an interest in how news is presented is not a positive note.
I was referring to Musk's first label of "US state-affiliated" as delegitimizing, although "Government Funded" isn't much better.
In NPR's case the first label is false because 1) NPR receives so little direct funding from the government and 2) NPR maintains editorial independence.
If NPR deserves the label of "state-affiliated" (or "Government Funded," for that matter) so do Musk's own companies, which according to the LA Times had received $4.9 billion in government funds as of 2015.
Hooray Elon do More
But heard reports of Twitter still censoring others
Clean & purge Twitter all out
