By the way, it was striking to see at the debate last night how eager some of the Republican candidates are to limit inflammatory speech on college campuses. Liberals aren't the only intolerant ones.
The left needs to be more tolerant of speech they find disagreeable, no question. But that doesn't mean the right has covered itself with glory on this issue. Hard-right conservatives have invited this backlash by reveling in hate speech and rejecting the truth in favor of fringe narratives and conspiracy theories.
Free speech is a constitutional right, but with that right comes a moral responsibility to use it wisely. Think of a guy who gets his license revoked after three DUIs, or has his guns confiscated because he left one lying around and his troubled kid brought it to school. When you abuse any right, people are going to get fed up with you, and they're going to want to take that right away. You can complain that it's not fair, and you might be right, but irresponsible behavior has consequences.
When the Conservative doesn't approve of the speaker he/she doesn't attend the speech.
When the Leftist (nothing "liberal" here) doesn't approve of the speaker he/she/whatever will protest and perhaps physically attack the speaker.

I recall the threats etc from others on Facebook at time & My being booted off LinkedIn
Day 1 his first campaign etc to date but since on Truth Social , Gettr have No issues
