Ken, I couldn’t agree more. Anyone who relies on police or government to protect them during a crisis may regret that decision. Arm yourselves and learn how to use the firearm. Be prepared to protect your family and yourself.

Absolutely right on target (pun intended). The first gun store/indoor shooting range to open in the West Palm Beach area was started by a Jewish guy from Philadelphia who became my best friend. So glad to see all the articles about Jews arming themselves. It's about time. Never again should truly mean never again.

A few days ago we were briefly discussing the topic of memes.

I think this meme, short and to the point, sums up today’s 2nd Amendment topic quite well …

I read there was one small town in Israel where the local IDF person, a female, took charge, got a small group of, I think, volunteers weapons, spread them out tactically and prevented the terrorists from overtaking the town, with most of the terrorists killed. It is beyond my comprehension that this didn't happen in all of the towns that close to the Gaza border, except that they must have trusted the Israeli military to protect them.

The Founders’ wisdom in including the Second Amendment is brought into focus once more by current events - at least for those who have eyes to see. Only the foolish say it could never happen here.

Back in the 1960s and 70s, there was an organization out of NYC ( I believe) called The Jewish Defense League that was founded by Meir Kahane. It was radical for that time. And while I am not Jewish, given the history of the 20th century, I would think that American Jews would be arming themselves. As the French Revolution ( and other Revolutions too) taught us, once the instigators get done rooting out the conspicuous threats, they turn on their own. And Jews should heed that historical lesson. Look what happened to Trotsky.

I have carried my pistol every day for years. I have also become something of a student of the law on self defense. I think becoming armed and ready to defend yourself is important. But equally important is making sure you understand the legal ramifications and being able to be fairly certain you are acting within the bounds of the law. Self defense is an affirmative defense. When you start playing in those leagues, you had better have your fundamentals down pat.

If you engage in a defensive gun use, whether the gun is fired or not, you *will* be charged in most places. The days where the cops would come out after a DGU and just say "naw, you're good" and let you go home are over, if they ever even existed. It turns out a lot of people who just committed murder, whether they intended to kill or not, claim self defense. The legal system has responded by treating nearly everyone as a murderer until proven otherwise. You had better have an attorney's name in your phone or wallet, and it would be highly recommended that you have pre-arranged to have the ability to pay for your defense, bail, etc. And you had better be sure that your ability to pay doesn't hinge on whether or not an insurance company thinks they have to pay to defend you. I recommend reading the works of a guy named Marc MacYoung, an expert witness who has written several books about self defense. It's sobering to find out how often people are wrong on this subject, and how often our preconceived notions will put us into prison for life.

Here's an unpaid advertisement. And if you Jewish and new to shooting and looking to buy gun or guns, check out Israeli Weapons Industries (IWI) selection. From handguns to rifles, they have something for everyone. Their even Israeli named (Masada, Zion, Jericho, Galil. My personal favorite is the Uzi Pro, a copy of the famous Uzi rifle in a 9 mm handgun.. With 23, 25 and 32 round magazines it would be my go to defense weapon of choice. What better way to support Israel and the Jewish people!

I actually tried to buy one of their Tavor shotguns this year. It's a 3-barrel design that can hold 15 rounds and is -- weirdly -- legal in California. The backlog was so long that I eventually gave up, though.
