When one side of the "debate" drops their clear intention of destroying the greatest country in world history along with the people trying to save it, then maybe we can talk about the "ever-eroding foundation of language and good-faith". We're no longer in a debate, we're literally in a non-kinetic (so far) war for our very survival as founded. In fact, the reality is that this has been going on for at least decades.

America isn't at war, it's at democracy during a polarized time. Democracy is about majority rule (that's why respecting elections is so important), with equal rights granted to the minority. War is about leaving the people on the other side bleeding out in a ditch.

Acting like this is a civil war only makes the country more polarized, which makes it even harder for democracy to function.

There is literally no such thing as democracy in this country. There is zero mechanism for people to get their opinions taken into account. Yes I know we elect people who are supposed to do that, but they don’t. Democracy is a fairy tale.

This is not a kinetic war in the traditional sense, Ted. It's what's called a Fifth Generation Information War, as 3 Star General Michael Flynn, one of the most prominent casualties, calls it. And it's largely an internal, domestic war with perhaps the worst evil the world has ever known. Called the Deep State/One World Government/Global Elite, with "chapters" in America called the Marxist Democrat Party and GOP Establishment/Republicans In Name Only, it's stated mission is total control of the world, with the elimination of the United States Constitution and America as founded as its number one priority. Not acting like we're in a civil war and pretending that we're just up against an opposition that believes in playing by the rules as defined by our Constitution is exactly what has gotten us into this mess. Understanding what we're up against and responding accordingly is what is going to get us out of it.

1. Come on, Flynn? QAnon adherent, Christian nationalist, cozy with the Russians, lied to the FBI, too wacky even for the Trump administration? Zero credibility.

2. "Establishment/Republicans In Name Only, it's stated mission is total control of the world, with the elimination of the United States Constitution and America as founded as its number one priority." That sounds like you're making a statement of fact. Do you have any evidence that's part of the Republican platform? Link?

3. You criticize the Republican establishment (falsely, I believe) for supposedly trying to eliminate the Constitution, and then you seem to call for doing away with it yourself ("responding accordingly"). That's logically inconsistent. If you want to protect the Constitution, you have to honor it.

4. What's the alternative to constitutional democracy? Are you calling for fascism and one-party rule?

Memes land like jokes when done well. objecting to them because some don’t work is stupider than the stupidest meme.

Memes are essentially just bumper sticker slogans, designed to get across a point with an image or two and in as few words as possible. Some are quite thoughtful and make great points; many others just play to one political side or another’s preconceived notions … serving as political comfort food. Yet other memes are just plain demagogic.

Thanks for reading, Rick. I believe you are correct. There are many political cartoons that are essentially memes- but can be productive, truth-speaking, at their very best.

These "image macros" do nothing for our discourse.

They do not convert but serve only to subvert the discussion into a debate of semantics.

This statement is right on! We may have a chuckle when we see them however, I many from the left, and the right use them as they would use the headline in the newspaper. People just won’t think for themselves any longer. It takes too many brain cells.

Thanks for reading my piece, Tami. I write for Wrong speak regularly and for my own pub, Dispatches from Bohemian Splendor.

And you are right, unfortunately.
