1. Newspaper owner dies after obscene police raid
These days, we routinely hear overwrought complaints about fascism or “gestapo tactics” by police. This story from Kansas actually fits the bill.
Last Friday, the entire Marion Police Department descended on the Marion County Record, seizing computers, cell phones, and documents. Not stopping there, they stormed the publisher’s home, with a full-throated contingent of police.
The publisher lived with his 98-year-old mother, the paper’s co-owner, who died of a fatal heart attack the next morning.
The newspaper’s apparent crime? Investigating the local police chief for sexual misconduct charges. The paper states that numerous colleagues from the chief’s former job said he was fired for misconduct, but the newspaper had yet to publish an article.
It’s a crazy story, and hopefully the beginning of some very expensive lessons for Marion County.
2. Special Counsel: Puppet or prosecutor?
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel to investigate alleged Hunter Biden corruption. Andrew McCarthy has an excellent write-up in the National Review on this farce.
McCarthy points out several glaring issues:
“What makes a special counsel special is that he or she is a lawyer brought in from outside the government, not just outside the Justice Department.” That’s certainly not Weiss.
Weiss “has already allowed the statute of limitations on any offenses arising out of the 2014–15 corruption — such as the Bidens’ dealings with Burisma — to lapse.“
Weiss “has never indicted Hunter Biden, even though his tax-evasion and gun crimes are straightforward and have been well known for many years.”
I’m listing just a few of his top charges. The whole article is worth a head-shaking read.
3. Yeah, this is an actual article
CNN’s “A guide to neopronouns, from ae to ze” is as nutty as the headline.
Media critic Steve Krakauer pointed out that an actual human at CNN wrote this. And more humans were involved in making sure it made it on the internet.
Here’s a brief taste for you:
Xey must be so proud of xemselves for this masterpiece.
4. Calling in a favor
Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs requested that Twitter censor critics of her tweet that compared Trump supporters to Nazis. The tweet was sent at the beginning of her political career, before she was Arizona Secretary of State. Critics questioned her impartiality in administering the election and she, in turn, tried to get Twitter to shut them up.
Just a small correction…. Instead of “Democratic governor” it should say Democrat governor. There’s nothing democratic about Democrats
DO U see what the Dems are doing to OUR side: Censorship
Is that fair??
Raid on KS paper= censorship
