Let’s be honest with ourselves here as a society we’re not truly worried about male athletes pummeling female athletes. No. Because if that were truly the case then we wouldn’t have female athletes in males sports like football and hockey etc. Let’s be real here if we truly cared about the well being of female athletes we need to not only get men out of women’s sports but get women out of men’s sports. Yes the double standards. Not to mention women have been in and invaded men’s sports far longer than this new phenomenon of men pretending to be women. But we can’t talk about that can we? Rhetorical. Or we could just let equality ring and fly for all because that’s what women asked for and wanted through feminism. Right? Rhetorical.

I don’t know if this is anecdotal, it could be, but I remember some time ago some trans activists proclaiming that if any straight heterosexual men are unwilling to date or have an intimate relationship with a “trans woman” (i.e., a genetic male posing as a woman) then those hesitant real men are transphobic and bigoted.

This is just nuts … and literally so as to include the double entendre! 🌰 🥜 🔩

Be forewarned … it quickly becomes a fever swamp.

I agree the left has gone way overboard on gender fluidity, but at least they're erring on the side of being nice to people who've had a rough go of it historically. The right's emphasis on the issue exploits intolerance and drives a wedge between people.

Yes, it's probably effective, but it also appeals to bigots and widens the country's divisions. That's not cool. Stick to issues like the economy, which everybody is concerned about.

Plus, when was the last time you heard a Democrat (much less Kamala Harris) put gender fluidity at the center of their campaign? It's more of a far left thing. Transgenderism was hardly even mentioned at the DNC.

I'd argue that political campaigns are exactly the place to argue over values, not just economic policies.

I mean it "widens our divisions" to argue about abortion. Or no-cash bail (racist!). Or illegal immigration (racist again!).

The Democrats have solidly pushed a trans agenda that went well beyond acceptance or discrimination or common sense. Like some Republicans who went beyond their constituencies on abortion, their policies and beliefs will be judged by the electorate. It's why we have elections ... not just to pick the best managers, but those who represent our values as well.

Good point about values. But it's possible to convey your values in a positive way that doesn't punch down or inflame divisions. Like saying "I believe in families" over images of traditional nuclear families. And staking out an anti-abortion position by saying "I believe in protecting healthy moms and healthy babies" over images of happy moms and babies. It gets the message across and appeals to voters' better angels.

I'm not saying that's necessarily as effective as going negative and inflammatory. It's just better and more dignified. There's too much cynicism in politics.

Playing the "You're a bigot if you don't agree with me" card? Sorry, but it's not "bigotry" to reject men pretending to be women. It's a recognition of it being a mental health issue. I can respect you if you have sexual identity issues and want to pretend you're a woman; but NOT if you try to force me to go along with your delusion. That's not "bigotry", that's common sense.

I wasn't saying that not believing in transgender ideology makes you a bigot. I don't buy it either in its more extreme forms. I said that choosing this as a campaign issue appeals to bigots -- a smaller subset of people who don't believe in transgender ideology.

I don't agree with you that gender fluidity is primarily a mental health issue -- it has more to do with changing social norms. But I do agree with you that folks shouldn't be forced or pressured into going along with this stuff.

There is a reason that the majority of those people with extreme sexual mental-disorders, gravitate to the democrat party. It's relative to the left's efforts to "normalize" these same maladies. In contrast, it is completely natural for Americans to be protective of women and children, and appealing to those inherent traits is anything BUT "campaigning to bigots."

Sorry, but "changing social norms" do NOT change physical reality. Let me repeat that: "Changing social norms do NOT change physical reality". Just because a political party "accepts" that men pretending to be women are actually women does NOT automatically transform those males into females. Their XY chromosomes remain unchanged. That is a physical reality that no amount of "changing social norms" can alter. Sorry, but that's reality. It's what makes gender confusion--not "gender fluidity", which does not exist in reality--a mental health issue. And any male struggling with that issue is done more harm than good by persons--however well intentioned and sympathetic--who play along with that individual's delusions rather than helping him to confront them.

Men should not be allowed to step in women’s locker rooms in more normal times that would have been a reason to arrest them. This has gone way past lacking respect for their situation
