The Trump indictment is very real
There's a vast difference between the NYC indictment and this one
A look at Trump’s Federal indictment
I called the indictment of Trump brought by NY District Attorney Alvin Bragg a “34-count nothingburger,” and I stand by that. The Manhattan court circus is partisan display of prosecutorial overreach.
I’ve read the latest charges against him regarding the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, and it’s radically different. It’s a serious case against the former president.
The indictment lists thirty-one counts of willful retention of classified national-security information, five counts of obstruction of justice, and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice
It alleges that, along with cards, letters, newspaper articles, and other sentimental items, when Trump left the White House he took classified documents as well. Documents that, according to the filing, included “information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign countries; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack; and plans for possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack.”
It claims that Trump stored those documents in a cavalier manner, and personally showed some to people who had no business (or clearance) to see them. According to a transcript of a supposed recorded conversation, Trump showed a document and said, “It is like, highly confidential.” He also said, “See as president I could have declassified it” but admitted, “Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.”
Even for those that dismiss that as similar to Biden and others similarly taking home classified documents, the obstruction of justice charges are damning. The indictment lays out specifics of how Trump first encouraged his lawyers into concealing or destroying some documents. When they wouldn’t, he and an aide hid boxes of documents from them, causing them to falsely testify, under oath, that no classified documents remained.
These actions weren’t just part of negotiation with the National Archives, but hiding documents specifically demanded by a federal grand jury subpoena. You can read the whole thing here if you’d like. It reads nothing like the Manhattan DA’s twisting of the law to bag Donald Trump.
We certainly need to remember that this is only a charging document, and we’ve yet to hear a legal response by Trump. And it’s more than reasonable to ask why Hillary Clinton or James Comey’s abuses get a legal pass.
After years of seemingly everyone targeting Trump – the media, Big Tech, and of course Democrats themselves – it can be hard to look at allegations against him without being defensive. They were undeniably treated differently than Trump.
But the former president handed prosecutors what looks to be compelling evidence of him violating the law. I’m unsure how the politics will play out, but legally, he’s got a serious problem.
2. More of us want athletes to compete based on birth gender
The latest Gallup poll shows more Americans now than in 2021 say transgender athletes should compete on teams that align with their birth gender. Also, fewer Americans support transgender athletes playing on teams that match their current gender identity. The same poll shows that more Americans in 2023 know someone who is transgender than in 2021.
3. Princeton students in favor of shoutdowns
A survey of Princeton University students showed about 75% of those students believe it’s acceptable to shout down or disrupt speakers who hold viewpoints they disagree with. The same survey showed 43% of students believe it’s acceptable to block someone from attending a talk they disagreed with, and 16% believe it’s okay to use violence against objectionable speakers.
4. Zuckerberg censored accurate COVID info
Mark Zuckerberg said in a recent interview that the scientific “establishment” asked Facebook to censor “misinformation” related to Covid-19 that ultimately turned out to be true. He also said requests from scientists to censor information on Facebook “undermines trust” in officials. And, I might add, in Facebook.
This is beyond ridiculous. The seriousness of the charge does not make it serious, any more than the Marxists calling anything they disagree with "racist" makes it serious. Just because the Feds are directly involved, instead of pulling Bragg's strings from behind the scene, does not make it any more "serious". Once it gets to a judge not totally compromised by the Deep State, it will get laughed out of the courtroom. Here's just one example: https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/06/12/the-national-security-nuclear-documents-outlined-by-jack-smith-are-pure-lawfare-manipulation-defense-centered-records-not-what-media-claims
If Trump declassified the materials as he claimed in the past how can any of the charges stand? How can he be charged with obstruction if there were no laws violated? How can this stand if the Supreme Court has previously set precedent by stating former Presidents are free to take whatever materials they desire?
I think this is another political stunt by Deep Staters to try to prevent Trump from winning the Presidency. Even if he were to be found guilty, I think it would ultimately be thrown out by the Supreme Court based on precedent.
