Ken this is a great read, however I'm 72 years old and I do remember when journalism was great because it gave 2 sides to a story and when the story was done you knew the total who, what, when, where and how, you don't get remotely close to that now. I don't even watch hardly any news anymore because of woke journalism. Keep up the great work on this venue and I will continue to be informed.
I don’t think the NYT was ever a “great paper.” But, this is otherwise a terrific opinion/analysis piece by Moody. Never forget … the NYT’s Walter Duranty wrote propaganda for the psychopathic and genocidal Soviet communist dictator Josef Stalin, and his brutal collectivization and starvation of Ukraine during the Holodomor.
I’ve also read some well sourced books by Jonah Goldberg, Dinesh D’Souza and Amity Schlaes, that cite then MSM news outlets like the NYT which wrote glowingly about fascist policies in then up and coming fascist Italy and a bit later in Nazi Germany.
The simple truth is … the NYT hasn’t met a collectivist and statist government or program that it doesn’t like. Whether it’s central planning, socialized medicine attempts like Obamacare, promoting race based programs, then and now, or now cheering on the Islamic Nazis that is Hamas, the NYT always takes the side of the collective over the rights of the individual.
The sooner this newsrag faces bankruptcy and carving up by its creditors … the better.
