There's no question that Jews have a higher IQ in aggregate compared to, say, Somalis, and it can't be observed without taking into account the practice of inbreeding. Ashkenazi Jews have a more diverse genetic background than Europeans even though they are descended from a group of about 350 that survived expulsions, massacres, diseases, and epidemics.

That aside, the independence of the Nobel committee, like so many institutions, has been compromised by the woke policies the purveyors of the global new world order are pursuing.

If the Nobel committee is so well insulated, how did Obama end up being awarded one with barely a year in office and virtually no accomplishments except being the first (half) black president.

Not just Nobel prizes. Freud, Marxs, Einstein, and Christ all started movements out of the box that were embraced throughout the world and for centuries. I think it has something to do with the belief that the Torah is God's word and what he is saying is totally unclear. So rabbis and students spend endless hours trying to figure out what a given passage means. Not just the Torah, the Haggadah is one long tale of rabbis through the ages interpreting the story again and again and again Some of it is ridiculous but it matters little. The rabbis opinions are almost sacred in themselves. One would think celebration of a historical victory might mean fireworks. But no, it is one more attempt to figure God out, then another, then another. The old joke applies: 2 Jews, 3 opinions.

I can imagine this comment section going off in some, umm, interesting directions. A few reasons occur to me.

Jewish culture highly prizes education and knowledge, especially the intellectual sort that's portable. If you're in constant danger of being kicked out of your home by a pogrom, better to have a skill that travels well than, say, growing potatoes. Those portable skills (medicine, engineering, science, economics) happen to be the ones the Nobel specializes in.

Jewish culture also, generally speaking, encourages people to question authority (that's what happens when the authorities keep trying to kill you) and prizes intellectual inquiry and debate. And that's what Nobel-winning breakthroughs are all about: interrogating old paradigms and creating new ones.

To avoid persecution, Jews have been drawn to classically liberal, culturally sophisticated countries. Those countries happen to have the best schools. But even within those countries Jews were often excluded from traditional colleges and universities, especially right before and after WWII. So instead they resorted to newer technical and scientific institutes that specialized in the type of cutting-edge research that wins you Nobel Prizes.

the European Jews ended up living in the Pale of Settlement, thanks to Empress Kathrine the Great of Russia.. but they could not emigrate to Europe.. They lived happily in their farms.. have you seen Fiddler on the Roof??

Then they got the permission to emigrate to Europe. Who do you think did emigrate.. the dull peasants tilling their fields??

Or most likely the 10% of the more clever people ?

In a couple of generations, the ones who had emigrated to Germany were academicians, managers, scientists, teachers in Universitities.. The local Middle Class did not like it and elected to power Hitler..

the rest is history…

In Russia, in the 40s and 50s there was the same situation. Resolved in a less bloody way thanks to the founding of Israel, which opened the borders to immigration, at which point the Russians said... "you've lived here for centuries, but it's time to go"... and the Jews went... 1,200,000 of them... and the Russian orchestras were left without conductors, without first violin, the banks paralysed, the factories without anyone to run them, a society bogged down by the lack of a native class capable of managing the economy... and the musicians who arrived in their thousands in Israel had to become taxi drivers...

But many migrated to the USA and Canada as soon as they could...

Near the end of this piece, Ken mentions Lise Meitner. A few weeks ago, I went to the new non-fiction section of my local library to find something to read on a plane ride. I came across "Sisters in Science -- How Four Women Physicists Escaped Nazi Germany and Made Scientific History" by Olivia Campbell. Lise was one of the four women. I highly recommend the book. I never knew that women faced such discrimination in the field of science.

One ready explanation is plainly in the Torah, and the books that follow in our Old and New Testaments. The Jewish people are God’s chosen people. One take on this is, some read “chosen, as if God randomly picked out a group of people and for some inexplicable reason poured out benefits on them. Another, more accurate take, is God chose the Jewish people because among all the flawed humans on earth they had the potential as, in our terms, as a “demonstration project” to show all mankind what they can be when following God. That doesn’t mean simply lolling around in blessings but also enduring correction and restoration. (Read the Old Testament and see a nation repeatedly succeeding beyond measure only to then lose sight of their direction, fail, even fall into captivity and slavery. The process repeats…over and over. The end result is a nation(even dispersed across the globe) blessed and refined by God.

No one could find a people who have been more oppressed and persecuted than they. Yet through it all they have been refined, restored by the God who chose them to show to all humanity what mankind can be, was created to be. As yet fully arrived? Probably not, but 22% of Nobel prizes ain’t a bad start.
